Essay—(External Assessment): The TOK essay is written on one of a list of prescribed topics published by IB. The aim of the essay is to demonstrate your ability to understand a complex topic, think analytically, and write with clarity and sophistication. TOK Essays range in length from 1200-1600 words. The TOK Essay component accounts for two-thirds of your official IB score in TOK (40 points). All students turn their essay in to the IB Coordinator, who will then upload them to IBIS no later than March 15 of the senior year.
